Listen!

Proverbs 1: 8 Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. They will be garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

Listen means to make an effort to hear something, to wait alertly i order to hear a sound. It is also means to allow oneself to be persuaded by a suggestion or request.

I must admit that I am not a good listener. I always presumed that I know what will be the next word that the talker will going to say. In addition I don't want to hear details, go to the fact and be finished with what your are saying. For me, time is gold. And that is not really a nice part of me. I am being disrepectful although it was not my intention.

I remember when I was young, I thought that I knew best. I don't want to listen to those that were older than me. And the result was not good. If I only knew how to listen. And that trait I can now see in my teen-age daughter. In fact, not only her but most of the youth today, thinks that they know bettter than their parents. They say that it is their lives and they have to make their own mistakes and learn from them. Maybe right, maybe not. But I believe that it will help them along the way if they will just

God is reminding me /us to listen. We are His children too. It is easy to see the young ones who don't want to listen to the older generation. But how about me, how about you? How about trying to listen to God that we can feel what he feels, we can hear his voice so clearly and we can feel his touch? Those moments will be so precious that we will not be anywhere in the world but with him.

When I go for a walk, I don't usually listen to different sounds along the way. Being a thinker, I think all the time. What I am going to do next, thinking of my life, my family and the list is endless. So, even if a dead person is lying on my path, I might not see her /him coz my mind wonders......But if I determined to really stop, look, listen while I walk, then I hear the birds sings, the wind blows and the sounds I made as I walk. Then I see the beauty around me and I can hear God talking to me through his creation. And then my walk will be the best walk ever. And that is why God is telling me to

It is like reading God's precious words. I can read verse after verse or chapters in the bible, it does not help me if I wont listen. I have to really wait for God to reveal something from his words to me. And guess what? I discovered treasures after treasures in God's words when I really listen. That is why God wanted us to listen.....his words will be a garland on our heads and a chain to adorn necks. God's words can make us beautiful. It decorate us. What a wonderful promise! Just think of God who hears prayers from east to west, prayers from the bottom of our hearts at the same time. My oh my, he is really listening!

God said that we have to bind his words upon our hearts forever and fasten them around our neck. Because when we walk, his words will guide us. When we sleep, his words will watch over us, when we are awake his words will speak to us. For his commands are a lamp, his teaching is a light, and the correction of his discipline are the way to life.  Proverbs 6:21-2
So friends what are you listening lately? Mind telling me what you hear?

Fear!

Proverbs 1: 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge...................................

Admit it or not, each and every one of us feels fear once in a while and it is not a good feeling.

Oxford American Dictionary defines fear as an unpleasant emotion caused by nearness of danger or expectation of pain. Fear defines also as the reverence or awe felt for God.

When I think about it, it comes into to my mind that there are a lot of things that I fear in my life. Not that I am having that feeling all the time, but when I am encountering what I am fearing of.
It can be:
  • drowning coz I couldn't swim
  • heights – I get dizzy just looking down from high places
  • being apart from God
  • thieves or drunk people
  • animals that bit, bite and kick like snakes, dogs, horses

When I was a child, I didn't learn how to swim. One day we visited a relative and we rode a passenger boat. Suddenly the motorboat stopped. Problems with the machine. And I remember, I was so afraid that the boat will turn around because I couldn't swim. Luckily, it went well with us.
But, I always have that uneasy feeling when I am riding a boat especially when the water gets rough.

I grow up in the Philippines and although it is a beautiful country, one can encounter both thieves and drunk people anywhere. And I know that these people can do such a terrible thing. So everytime I am on vacation in my homecaountry, there is always that uneasy feeling inside me. Fear!

And being apart from God is the worse thing that can ever happen to me, because I know that because of him I live and having this kind of life that I have now. Saved and forgiven.

Maybe those that loves animals will not like that I am scared of them, but I can't help it. I just don't feel secured in their company.

Proverbs say that we have to fear the Lord, coz it is the beginning of knowledge. Then I asked. But how should I fear you Lord? Must I have that uneasy feelings always all the time?

Then I examined myself.... I am afraid of God? Do I have that uneasy feeling when I feel His presence or when I read His words? Of course the answer is no. It is the opposite. To be in God's presence is the safest place I could ever be. Then what kind of fear is it?

It said in another definition that fear can be reverence or awe felt for God.

Awe means respect combined with fear or wonder and reverence is to honor as sacred. And that is the kind of fear that I must have for God. And I believe that is for everybody. God really deserved to be respected and honored after all. And to think how wise we can be.....

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledege......
and the opposite........but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Job 28:28 And he said to man, " The fear of the Lord-- that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding".

These pictures made my day!

A peek in my garden!

Poppies  are smiling!

                    and so these columbines flowers.

chive flowers....

peony flowers

But I chose wild flowers to decorate my kitchen table. They are beautiful too!

Then, fishing time with my husband. This time I was lucky to catch a fish. It really made my day:)

Haddock

Haddock is a good fish and is a bottom fish that lives at 40-300 meters depth. Haddock is common in Norway along the coast and spawning period from March to June. Common tools used during the fishing of haddock are trawls, longlines and seines. Haddock is clearly overbite and it can be about 110 cm long and weigh up to about 20 Kg. Haddock is very good as fish cakes and dried fish, but is also good cooked ,  fried or grilled.

                               Something unusual in sight?

This ship ran aground for forty years ago and they didn't do anything about it. But it captured my eyes.

                        Different cloud formations!

And the sunset outside my window made my day complete!

Sharing happy moments!

We are a group of  women from the Philippines that are now living in Norway. And since we cannot take part in the celebration  of the  Philippines Independence Day in our homecountry, we decided to have  our own celebration here and share our happy moments with the Norwegians.

And here I am ready for the day!

We rented and decorated this place for our guests.

And here is Jolly, the superwoman in the group who had taken the initiative so that we can share this memorable moment with each other. So she planned all the details, coordinated, and inspired each and everyone of us to be involved.

And after many days of preparation, the guests can now enjoy Philippine's cusines.

And this is my favorite: Salmon with mayonaise, garnished with vegetables and egg made by my sister.

And the entertainment began with these three sweet girls who danced for us.

Followed by a song of Jolly's beautiful daughter!

Hawaii dance!

Song that touched hearts....

"Pandango sa ilaw" dance

Song " I stand by you" by Maria Stella. Dedicated to all the girls in the group:)

Subli dance....

And the last: Kuratcha dance

And of course picture taking first, before eating all the cakes that we baked.

And those that washed all the dishes in the kitchen. Thanks to them.

And now time for games; trip to Jerusalem for kids. Just in case you are wondering what I am doing on the stage, I was the emcee:)

For the sexy ladies....

For friends and couples...

The happy guests...

And now time to say goodbye...until next year again:)

Thanks everyone for making it possible that we can share this memorable moment with each other:)
