Beautiful Norway!

I began sharing the highlights of my life in Norway since I started blogging from september last year. And this blog is one of them.

It was summertime again and this time we spent our vacation in this beautiful land Norway. This place is called Verra Botn. We stopped by to take a rest.

Another stopped over. Nice place along the road:)

The biggest troll I had ever seen. Luckily, he could'nt move. He, he

For those who were ufamiliar with trolls, I found this information from Wikepedia about them. Typical Norwegian tourist attraction.

A troll is a supernatural being in Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. In origin, the term troll was a generally negative synonym for a jötunn (plural jötnar), a being in Norse mythology. In Old Norse sources, beings described as trolls dwell in isolated rocks, mountains, or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely helpful to human beings.
Later, in Scandinavian folklore, trolls became beings in their own right, where they live far from human habitation, are not Christianized, and are considered dangerous to human beings. Depending on the region from which accounts of trolls stem, their appearance varies greatly; trolls may be ugly and slow-witted or look and behave exactly like human beings, with no particularly grotesque characteristic about them. Trolls are sometimes associated with particular landmarks, which at times may be explained as formed from a troll exposed to sunlight. One of the most famous elements of Scandinavian folklore, trolls are depicted in a variety of media in modern popular culture.

At last we arrived to our destination: Namskogan Zoo.

Lucky for us, there was a swimming pool in the area, so my youngest daughter and I used the pool to cool us down.

Then afterwards, we went out to visit the animals in the Zoo :)

My mother - in -law was with us! At the background was a peacocks cage.

It was an animal inside, but I forgot what it was:(

The ostriches ! They were bigger than my husband. Good that they were inside the fence:)

Our daughter tried to  talked to the goats and they listened. He, he

She tried horse- back - riding, too,  but I would'nt dare.

Father and daughter paddling each canoe.  Well, the river was not so deep.

Tough girl! It  was a four wheels motorcycle.

Time to eat, but they had to feed the bird while we waited for our barbecue...

And what a small world! We met some friends:)

Memories from year 2002:)

                            Lastly: Thought for the day!

Germany!

I had a sister who lived in Germany for many years and it had been my dream to  visit her and see for myself how  she was doing  there. I had questions like:
Was it difficult to learn the German language....
Wanted to know if the Germans were nice to foriegners...
And of course the desire to see other countries apart from Norway.
She lived in the big city of Koln, but later in Berlin.

And when the opportunity came, I took the chance.

So here I was in the big city of Koln. They have many huge and magnificent churches there like at the background.

The city train which we used in transportation.

City hotel at the background!

Sidewalk!

A fountain in front of a church.

At the city square.....

Before I departed, we visited a relative who also lives in Germany:)

The again after many years, I visited her again when my brother- in- law passed away.

We went to the city to shop....

Crowded city like my homeland:)

This place is a graveyard! Looks like a paradise to me!

I think we look alike!

This was their garden where they planted flowers and vegetables. This place was located outside the city.

Finally, my sister:)

My sister's kitchen

Together with friends in the church .

Well, to make a long story short, she had a nice life in Germany, lived there in 23 years, but now she is living in Norway too, like me:)

Here we are now, older but still going strong:)

Trip to Oslo!

Why we wanted to visit Oslo?
Well, the king and queen have their palace there.  As you can see in the picture.

And of course the well known Vigeland's sculpture park,

    and Tusenfryd

TusenFryd is a classical amusement park, with roller coasters, carousels, games and entertainment. Amongst our rides are the great roller coasters like the wooden «ThunderCoaster» (950 meters long with a top speed of 100 km/h and which gives you 12 times airtime), «SpeedMonster» (0–90 km/h in 2,2 sec, 6.000 hp) and the water coaster «SuperSplash». There is a designated children area for our smallest guest, Barnas Fryd, our pool area, BadeFryd and in 2010 we introduced as the first park in Europe «Nightmare». This is a 5D attraction with 3D cinema, sound, light and other effects plus interactivity, giving our guest the opportunity to be involved in the ride, as a 5th dimension.

But first, we tried to capture the beauty of the nature along the way.

Why we did not put our feet on the water? Oh no! The water was too cold although it was summer.

    But the scenery wa breathtaking!

Our first visit to the Royal palace. My husband in the middle:) But we did not see the king and queen:(

Me in front of the parliament building:) I have not seen any politician either!

At least we saw the statue of Queen Maud at the back!

Princess Maud of Wales (Maud Charlotte Mary Victoria; 26 November 1869 – 20 November 1938) was Queen of Norway as spouse of King Haakon VII. She was a member of the British Royal Family as the youngest daughter of Edward VII and Alexandra of Denmark and granddaughter of Queen Victoria and also of Christian IX of Denmark. She was the younger sister of George V. Queen Maud was the first queen consort of Norway since 1380 who was not also queen consort of Denmark or Sweden.

And this is the Vigeland's sculpture park.

    The Vigeland Park

The Vigeland Park is the world's largest sculpture park made by a single artist, and is one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions. The park is open to visitors all year round.

The unique sculpture park is Gustav Vigeland's lifework with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron. Vigeland was also in charge of the design and architechtural layout of the park. The Vigeland Park was mainly completed between 1939 and 1949.

Most of the sculptures are placed in five units along an 850 meter long axis: The Main gate, the Bridge with the Children's playground, the Fountain, the Monolith plateau and the Wheel of Life.

I felt like this mother with many children who needs me! he he

I found the fountain of youth! He, he

And Kamilla found someone who was alone!

    More pictures in the park!

    Day after: Tusenfryd amusement park!

At last she found someone to lean on!

And after some years, Oslo again. This time together with my sisters!

    Lovely ladies......I mean flowers :)

Really beautiful! The flowers of course:)

    Memories........worth remembering!
