Pocket slippers and many more!

Last weekend, my husband's sister and her family came for a visit. We seldom see each other so there were so much to talk about. I asked her what she had been doing lately. She told me that she is making " Pocket-slippers". I became curious and asked her about it. She said, she got the idea after someone gave her  " pocket slippers"  as a gift. Then I asked her if she could teach me too how to make it. She then write the procedure to me and after two days, I managed to make a pair. It look like a purse actually. It is small. Easy to take with you wherever you go.

But this is how it look like when I put it on my foot.

I showed this pair of pocket slippers at work and an older lady bought it. So I have to make another pair or more. Gift ideas for Christmas:)

This is what my sister- in- law had made.

Anyway, I made more pocket santas in different colors

Well, since the family was almost complete, my husband invited everyone out to eat dinner. Late celebration of his 50th birthday. But since they don't want to be published, I just post me and my youngest daughter picture.

The foods we ordered. I didn't take pictures of all that we ordered since I was disturbing the guests.  We were ten people in all.  But....hmmm... delicious!

and my cake

By the way, the day after, me, my sister and brother-in-law and a friend from Mexixo visited the elderly to the nursing home to share God's word and sing for them. After the service, we served foods which made them more happy. I baked this chocolate cake.

my sister made breads with lots of toppings

Well, it is winter now, but we can still see colorful sights around like these sunrises outside my window

To attract birds, I put bird feeders in our garden. Birds came. They are my company especially when I am alone. I watched them through my kitchen window.

Set your mind on the things above,
not on the things that are on earth.

What is your handicap?

A younger sister of mine is a nurse and some months ago she had taken care of a woman who has been born with a defect. What I mean with that is that she has no feet and she only have one finger. But she can walk alright with her half legs and do a lot with her half arms and one finger.
What is so remarkable with this woman is that she managed to come on top despite being a handicap. She now works as a social worker, driving her own car, managing her own business and already published a book, which she has written.
Actually, she was placed by her parents in an orphanage. But she was adopted and taken cared of her adopted parents.  Her faith in God had helped her in her struggles.  She was also reunited with her parents and having now a good relationship with them.

Most of us would consider living with such physical problems to be among life greatest struggles. But not this woman. She is admirable and an inspiration to many.
Although we are blessed with a healthy body, a sound mind and stable emotion, still we sometimes complain that we cannot do this and do that because of our imperfectness. We used our lack of something as a reason not to do what God intended us to do. But don’t forget that we have a perfect God and we can always turn to Him for help. As his creation, he has blessed us with something that we can use and develop to do remarkable things. Like the handicap woman who actually have all the reason not to do anything, but used what  God has given her to achieve her goals. And with God’s help, she survived against all odds. An inspiration for many not to give up when the going gets tough.

Remember:
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

Someone said: “ Only those who admit their weakness can be strong in the Lord.”

Jesus said: "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

So friends, with faith in God, we can do the impossible!

An extra ordinary day!

Well, it is not everyday one can be invited to visit a 94 years old lady. In addition, it was her birthday that day.

It started when my older friend asked me to drive her to her aunt, the 94 years old lady, so  that she could bring her flowers and a cake. So after  work, we went to a flowershop to buy a bouquet for the birthday celebrant.

While my friend was busy choosing flowers, I took the chance to take some pictures around  the flowershop. I just used my phone, so the pictures are not so clear.
                                                       Here are some of them:

Decorations for the season

Anyway, when we arrived at the house where my friend's aunt lives, we found  this dear old lady  still wearing her bathrobe. She just finished taking a bath. But we didn't mind. Her boyfriend was there too. And take note, he is only 77 years old. It must be love. They have been together for 28 years now. He was the one who served us coffee, tea and cakes. He helped her too in baking apple cake. Apples were from his own tree. This dear old lady is just so adorable. Fun to talk with and still very much up to date.

Anyway, she got many flower bouquets that day. White roses were from my friend.

Being with this lovable couple who loves each other dearly despite of the age gap was really special for me.

She told me that he wants to collect antiques, that is why he chose her:)

This dear old lady has this beautiful scenery outside her window.

Anyway, I am still busy doing some things with my hands like:

Christmas cards

This little Santa. An idea if one wants to give money as a gift....

Pancakes I made for the elderly at work.

Tomorrow, we are going to have Sunday worship meeting, so  I baked vanilla buns to be served with coffee to those that will come.

Of course, my hubby deserved to be served first.

Vanilla cream filling inside. Hmmm.  My hubby was satisfied:)

Saying goodbye with this picture. Yes, the snow came in October!

Thought for the day

We are never too old to serve God

Love in October!

borrowed picture from Ole Johnny Male

May the skies be sunny
on this October day
May the breeze be fragrant
As it pass along your way

May your hopes and dreams come true,
let not problems arise
let happiness sorround you,
and let love shine in your eyes

May the days be merry
for the simpliest girl I know,
May God bless you endlessly,
and let your spirit shine and glow

Lastly, let everything you see tell you,
of how much you mean to me,
and tell you that " I love you"
and to love me, is what i humbly plea...

This poem was  one of the poems written by my son Brian many years ago and it touched his mother's heart to read his words.
