What about Julie? Julie my friend invited me to her birthday celebration at their house. Julie reminds me of Julie Andrews, although I haven't heard my friend sings yet. But Julie Andrews personality in the film " The King and I".
The actress was an intelligent, strong -willed woman and knows how to fight for the right. My friend Julie has no child (yet) like the actress of the film, but she is an adorable aunt who loves her nephew as her own. Anyway, she is only 29.
When I arrrived I found her preparing food....
with a help of course from another friend....
her name is Cristy....
and cousin Lennie, who came all the way from the north of Norway ( Tromsø). By the way we are in the middle of Norway.
They have everything under controll, so I just watched and talked with them in the kitchen, since I was the first one to arrived.
The roses on the table was from her husband.
What typical with us filippinos is that when we are invited to a party, the first place we gather is in the kitchen. It is just the way we are.
Anyway, one by one the guest arrived and the food was served.
Rice, pancit, lumpia, fried chicken and sinigang ( boiled pork meat with tamarind sauce). Typical filippino foods.
And of course, picture taking of the flower girls....
and the innocent smiles....
joyful smiles.....
the closeness.....
the young ones and the young once....
and a group picture.
But after all the talking and laughing...time to prepare the dessert:) This is the dough....
fried in oil...
and rolled in sugar...
More dessert... puto, also a filippino dessert. It was made of rice flour with cheese.
Another variant...
Fruit salad!
Rice pudding which we called " biko". This was made by Julie's cousin and very delicious.
The birthday celebrant recieve money as gifts...
and flowers among other things.
It was a memorable happy day for all of us:)
"Thought for the day"
