The outcast!

How would I feel to be one or you?

In our society, we use to put human in different categories.

                                                                Rich people,

                                                                        poor people

                                                                         sick people,

                                                                          famous people,

                                                                             beggars,

                                                                             alcoholics,

                                       drug addicts ,

                                                                    unemployed

                                                                    employed

                                                         handicapped,

                                                                       prostitutes

And so on.  Each and everyone belongs to one of these  groups. And for us, where would we want to be associated with?

In human point of view, we all want to belong to those that are rich and famous or those that are not sick and those that are employed. We don't want to be an outcast. But some are not so lucky and they ended up as a part of a not so popular group of people.

But, how do we interact with those that are less fortunate? How about God? What would Jesus do?

While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, " Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." Jesus reached out his hand and touch the man. " I am willing," he said. And immediatly the leprosy left him . Luke 5:12-13

Look at that! Jesus need not to touch this man with leprosy. He could just say a word and the sick would be healed.  But He did reached the man with his hand and touched him. Thus showing His love for the outcast by his gesture. Can you imagine the feeling of the outcast? Having a leprosy, no one would ever dare to interact with him or touch him.  But Jesus, who is God, did and healed him. And I believe that from that moment on, the man was overwhelmed by God's love. Tears flowed on his once  wounded face. Suddenly, he was not an outcast anymore. He got his life back. What a change! And think how happy we can be if we can be a tool for an outcast to get his/ her life back.

Writing this post made me cry because I can relate with the the outcast, because I was like one of those that were less fortunate before. And Jesus reached out to me and lift me up from the muddy pit I was into and had given me my a new life. That is why, maybe I am writing this post. To tell that Jesus can really change lives. And now it is my turn to reach out and give a helping hand.

In this time of history, it is not natural to meet one with leprosy because it can be cured nowadays. But the prostitutes, the beggars, the homeless, alcoholics, drug addicts are everywhere. People who maybe just need someone to listen to them and be comforted. People who are outcasts. Jesus showed as an example. We too ought to reach out and offer a helping hand. A touch of love. God's love through us. And see others  through the eyes of our loving God.

Remember:

So today, I am encouraging each and eveyone including myself to reach out and offer a helping hand. Do it  for Jesus!

  1. This was a really good post Joy. Jesus hung out with those who many did not want to be associated with. I remember holding a precious child of God while in Nicaragua. This sweet one was ill and left a train of sickness down my shoulder and arm, but that was okay. I hoped to bring just a little bit of comfort and love that day. Thanks again for a good reminder.

  2. beautiful encouraging post, Joy! In this time when people are too busy with their own lives, making money, reaching their goal we often forget about the others who are in need - the others who are no as fortunate as many of us. This is a great reminder to reach out and share :)
